New Products Coming Monday!!!

I'm so excited that my first real order is coming this Monday.  I've got Ranger and some other surprises coming. I'll be adding items to my Etsy store.  I'm still trying to figure out what type of online store I'm going to have and what will be the easiest and nicest looking.  I've been adding more videos to YouTube so don't forget to check me out there.

Hours, Classes and Crops

Last weekend we had a great time at our Saturday night Crop Till You Drop.  We also had a great time making Cards on Sunday, photos of the cards have been posted in my Facebook group Sew Scrappin.  I'm giving myself a week end off from classes this weekend.  I'll be posting the next round of classes really soon.  My birthday is tomorrow so I want to do something special for it.  Jeff is taking me to the new Twilight Movie this weekend and I'm so excited.  The kids are also doing a pie auction to raise money for a Pathfinder trip so that will also be fun.

Halloween Tag Swap on Facebook

If the guidelines for this swap sound familiar, I barrowed them from Minialbumscraps.ning.com

This swap will be a 5 plus 1 tag swap.  You will make 5 to mail out and 1 for yourself that you keep.

Tag size is either a #8 standard size shipping tag (6 1/4 X 3 1/8) or any shape that is roughly around 6 inches.

Tags need to be made of a sturdy material of your choice and should be covered and finsihed on both sides (this does not mean that you have to embellish both sides, I just don't expect to see uncovered chipboard on the back)

Tags must include a few different types of embellishments such as flowers, lace, stickpins, ribbon, charms, metal flowers or embellishments, punch outs or die cuts, tickets, tags, etc.  I would like to see nice fully embellished tags.  I want you to push yourself to create something nicer than you ever have!

Tags need to be placed in ziploc or some type of waterproof bag to keep them from being damaged during shipping.

Tags need to be mailed no later than September 30th.  They need to be postmarked no later than the 30th.  I will return late packages unopened.  PLEASE contact me with any issues, communication is key.  I want the best for my swappers!!

Please include a self addressed stamped padded envelope to mail your tags back along with the same amount of postage you used to ship it to me plus 2 additional stamps.  Any unused postage will be mailed back to you in your envi.  Also please do not send prepaid labels or meterd strips as they expire.  If you would like me to mail your tags back in the small flat rate priority box include 5.20 plus .80 for delivery confirmation if you would like.  I strongly suggest this method as it worked best the last time for everyone with any distance.  (no need to send me a small flat rate priority box, I have tons) Plastic pencil boxes work great too (Misty B used one and it saved her a lot in shipping, but she is just a state away from me).

Please be advised that if you participate in any of my swaps and are late I will put you on swapping probation.  I understand life happens, its when life keeps happening to the same person when it causes waves.  If I place you on swapping probation you will need to mail at least 5 days PRIOR to the deadline and you will also be required to provide delivery confirmation.  I work hard to meet a deadline as most of us do.  We should not be forced to wait on those that are forgetful or irresponsible.

I always send little thank you gifts for joining my swaps (since I don't have shipping costs).  Items are subject to change and are rarely the same twice.  Everyone will get the same thank you gift in each swap but not the same for every swap.

Some New Improvements

Jeff has been busy working on the store.  He got it painted last week.  The floor is also done.  With nothing in the store and the walls not covered in slat board it looks very bright.  Don't worry it will look better with the walls covered in scrapbook supplies.

Something I did today

I made these today.  I'm just addicted to making vintage tags.  I can't stop, love how quick they are.  Hope you like.

I am now on YouTube and have been uploading some of my work.  I've been learning how to use our video camera and have been having some difficulty with the quality of my first few videos.  I'm learning new things everyday.  Stop by and check it out, I'd love to share some things with you.

Here are some of the stamps I plan on having in my store.  They are so beautiful.  They will range from $22 to $30 but hey that is why you use coupons.  I will have one coupon avail per week.  So start saving now.  Only about 1 month till my store opens.  Tim Holtz is amazing and his products are too.  Check out more of his videos posted on YouTube.

He keeps working.

This is what Jeff has had to scrape off the floor.  I'm hoping we can be ready by mid June, but due to my contractor being so busy I might have to push it back further.

The Boys Are Working Hard

I am lucky enough to have a family of contractors at my disposal.  Here are some photos of what they are up against.  This place has had the same tenant for 30 years so it is time for a makeover.
This carpet has left the building.....

The toilet is soon to be gone as well as the fo-tile, They have orders to junk it.
Here is from the Back of the store to the front with my trunk (to hide the kids toys in) and new old chair (holding my coming soon sign).
The sink is cool and retro so I'm keeping it.  We will move it to the wall next to it so that it is straight in from the door.  I also got new knobs that look old and will give it new life.  We are re-doing the tile also.
This is a little hall that goes to the closet where we will install a small hot water heater.  Not sure what I'll do in this space.  The old yellow shelf is gone.  I'll post pictures after the demo when Jeff gets home with his camera phone.
Here is the holes in the wall.  Seems that the folks from the phone company next door keep backing into the wall.  Jeff is patching these holes and will texture over them, you won't even know it was there when he is done.
As you can see the wires are outside the walls it is THAT old.  Will be re-doing that as well, still outside the walls but going to make it look cool and industrial.  I like to play up the feel of how old the building really is.

Hope that shows a bit about what we are doing to the place.  I can't wait to get started on the finish work.

First Challenge:

Stamped Tag Swap: Full (Please join the next one)

You must mail tags by June 1st 2011.  Please follow directions closely.  Flakes will not be accepted.

There will be 10 Spots.  You may take more than 1 spot if you wish.  The more spots you take the more tags you will get.  For each spot you will need to make 20 tags (size 2.25 X 4.5 inches, or larger)10 of 2 designs.  Tags must be store bought or cut with a Cricut or other die cutting machine with white or off-white cardstock, no hand-cut tags will be accepted.  Each tag must be stamped with your choice of stamp using either Staz-On, Archival Ink, or Embossing Powder.  The reason that this is important is so that when each person gets their tags they may decorate them anyway they wish without having to worry about the ink running.  I have included this video of someone (not me) to explain it better for you.

Tags must be mailed to my PO box.  With a SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope).  The sooner they are all in the sooner I can mail them back out.

Thanks to those that have signed up so far.  4 more spots available.

The Joys Of New Beginnings

I guess it started back when I was just a little girl.  My mom would take me for a walk to the post office just 2 blocks from our house.  We would always pass the little thrift store on our way.  I loved to look inside the door as we passed and look at ALL the stuff crammed inside.  That was over 25 years ago.  Today that store is mine and I'm opening it in just over a month.  It will soon be my very own scrapbooking store, and I can't wait.  It will be the place that I can share all my ideas with the world.  I'm hoping that you will find it fun to follow me and my journey to MY DREAM.  There is what we begin with.
