IF Opportunity Doesn't Knock

I made this new Artisan Style Graphic 45 Tag. I think it is perfect for this time of year. The last few years I've tried out for the Design Team of Graphic 45 and never really got close. Partly because I don't have time to update my blog and I have a terrible camera and horrid lighting. I also decided if I didn't make it two years ago I was going to go back to work full time...which I did. My job keeps me really busy, and I also volunteer a lot with our youth.. about 50 of them. I juggle way too many hats, so today after a bit of a breakdown, I came home and had to get my feelings out on paper literally. Not writing in words mind you, but getting my emotions out by cutting some stuff up. This tag says what I'm feeling today:

If Opportunity Doesn't Knock
Stick to the Plan
CREATE.

So for now I create what I want to, when I want to, in what small amounts of time that I have, and do it for the love of it. So for all you fellow G45ers who try out for the Team and don't make it...If Opportunity Doesn't Knock...Stick to the Plan....Create.

Here is a card I made from the same collection.  I used Graphic 45 Artisan Style papers and #MarionSmithDesigns stamps Garden Rose Stamp MS101058 and Prima Junkyard Findings Ingvild Bolme Street Signs.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog.  Hope you have a wonderful day.

Just A Little Something For The Office

For this project I decided to combine a couple of my favorite companies into this fun alterations box. In the past the trays that I've altered have been on the darker side.  For this one I wanted to use light colors since Spring is here.  My office has a teal theme going with it so I searched my Graphic 45 stash for teal items.  I'm planning on taking this to the office to enjoy it.  Since I work so much these days it is nice to look at stuff I made and remember why I work so hard.....so I can create art.

I found some lovely butterflies from both Botanical Tea Collection and Olde Curiosity Shoppe.  I used some chipboard pieces from Typography.  I then used a chipboard tag from Couture.  I also used some Come Away With Me with the frame and charm on the bottom row.  I painted the whole thing white with some cheap Folk Art paint.  Added some Tim Holtz tissue paper and then added more paint to fade it out.  Then distressed it with Tim's Salty Ocean, Broken China, and Walnut Distress Ink.  I used a baby wipe to remove some of the distress in places and that made it even more distressed looking.

In the first box I used some Petaloo flowers, Tim Holtz Clip and Typography Chipboard.  The second one I left very empty and only showcased the butterfly from Botanical Tea.  The third I included a wooden spool from my sewing stash and a vintage bobbin.  I added another butterfly.  The left bottom box I used one of Tim's dolls and since it has always bugged me that they are kinda nude I covered them up with flowers and butterflies to hide their nudity.  lol.  I used an ornament frame and added a sticker and some glossy accents for the next box.  The star box I used a wood star...I can't remember where that came from but I painted it white and distressed the edges.  I added a metal word and more Petaloo flowers (and one that was in my stash and I don't know what brand but it was the right color).

The top right box has a chipboard vw in it from my stash and I propped it up to make it look more like a real car.  I have a VW for my daily driver and I love them so I thought this was just perfect for my little box.  I didn't have a die cash in the right color so I'm really glad I had this chipboard piece.  I added another Petaloo flower.  I have no idea what you call that silver bead stuff but it is a short piece I had in my junk drawer.  The light bulb is a Tim Holtz pc.  The bottom right I used a Couture chipboard tag and then a little vile a friend sent me as a RAK and I filled it with some little white and teal beads I found.  I collect Scrabble games from every junk store I go to and had to put an A for my first name of course.  The second one in on the bottom has a Tim Holtz Charm that I added some Come Away With Me paper from Graphic 45.  The domino is a bead from my bead box (I used to make earrings with them) and the #5 game piece was red and I painted it to match my box....who says you can't MAKE things match.  The legs on the bottom of my alterations box are wood.  They were a gift from one of my friends on Facebook.  I have such great friends who send me the coolest stuff.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my project.  I sure had fun making it.  When I can't scrapbook as often as I like and am sitting in my office answering customer calls, this will remind me what I can do when I have the time.  I hope this inspires you to try a lighter color version of our favorite alterations boxes.

I want to take some time to thank all of those who follow my Youtube videos and who have liked my FB page or visited my blog Sew Scrappin (which I hardly ever update).  I don't have time to spend on my blog as much as I'd like to.  Today I want to do a giveaway.  I'll be sending this card to one person who comments and shares this post either from FB or my Blog.  I'll be randomly choosing someone this Saturday night so make sure your name is there.  Thanks so much for your love and support.

Graphic 45 Design Team 2014 Audition

Today I'm answering the 2014 Design Team Call

Below you will see my creations for the first round of the Design Team call.  These projects I've created over the last year and hope you enjoy them.  To see other projects I've created please visit me on Sew Scrappin on Facebook and SewScrappinIdAmy on Youtube. I also post all my G45 projects to Graphic45.ning and Pinterest.

I also have more great news.  I've updated my lighting in my scrapbook space so as you can see from my first layout my pictures will be much lighter then previous examples.  Hope you like these changes.

I love making layouts.  Here are a few of my favorites.

I love altering items.  Here are a few of my favorites I've made this year.

I love making cards.

Tags are also lots of fun for me.

I love making mini albums with boxes to cherish them in.  I usually give them or sell them.  This one I used G45 Tag Staples for the pages.

Something else I love making is jewelry.  I made these for myself and I wear them most of the time.  From them you can see which collections are my personal favorites.  I do love them all but these two just speak to my personality.

I love all things Graphic 45.  To be considered for their Design Team would be a dream come true.

pink paislee Hope Chest

I had so much fun creating this layout sitting on my couch.  My family is the most important part of my life and I feel like we just never have time to be together. So when sitting around watching t.v. with the family, I often grab a few craft items and see what I can do.

For this project I grabbed:

pink paislee Hope Chest 12x12 paper pack
Glitz Sunshine in my Soul 6x6 paper pack
Imaginarium Designs dress form (thanks Amy V.)
Darjeeling Petaloo flowers
pink paislee Hope Chest paper goods
pink paislee Hope Chest label stickers
vintage lace from my stash
Ranger Tim Holtz distress Walnut ink
Want2Scrap Bling
Glossy Accents (Ranger)

I used one of the 12x12 papers and all the rest are from the 6x6 stack. You don't have to have lots of paper to create a cute layout.  I find scrapbooking is much easier when working with a collection or a set.  Makes taking your work with you much faster... even if you are just taking it to the couch.

Graphic 45 Couture

I have to say Couture is one of my favorite collections so far.

Here is a layout that I made last weekend using Graphic 45 Couture papers.

When starting this layout I choose the pretty peacock paper as my main focal paper and then distressed the edges.  I cut out the center of the sheet to save for another project.  I would be covering the center anyway so nobody would know it was missing. That is how I make my papers go further.  I added it to a simple brown wood grain paper so that there would be no hole in the back.  I then cut out the center contrasting color just bigger than the missing paper and distressed the edges.

I added lace down the side and bottom and cut out my quote sheet.  I then went through all my chipboards and other embellishments to see what had feathers.  I collected those together and distressed the edges with walnut stain. I took a small craft tag and cut it in half.  I made it appear larger by adding a 4x6 sheet of paper from the 6x6 mini stack.  This is my photo mat as well.

I then added these great Petaloo flowers and leaves.  The white ones I got in a swap.  The little green roses are from the dollar bin at Michael's. If you look closely you can see the burlap sneaking a peak. I cut that out with my Tatter Floral die by Tim Holtz.  I added the words "so stunning" from the sticker sheet to a metal drawer pull (Tim Holtz, Ranger).

The bling is Want2Scrap and adds just the right amount of filler and wow to the page.

Thanks so much for stopping by to see me today.
Have a scrappy weekend!
